Each dodging tool is an elaborate, site-specific interpretation of the traditional darkroom dodging tool, used to affect the exposure of a photograph. The collection was made by photographing the sky hidden from view by contested monuments in public parks around Chicago. Each tool's size is determined by what is needed to completely "dodge" the monument's head from view from the nearest sidewalk.

The day after this performance the City of Chicago removed the monument from the park.
